Is There Anything That Men And Women Can Agree On?
When you stop and think about it, it's almost a miracle that men and women can live together in harmony. They like such different things, how can they agree on anything?
Television producers are pretty clever when it comes to devising plots and characters that appeal to both men and women. They can do this because their characters are multi-faceted. A male lead may be admired by men because of his intelligence or courage, while a woman will see his more vulnerable side. They are watching the same show, but men and women are not seeing the same thing!
When it comes to real life, though, in a lot of areas, men just have to accept what a woman wants and women have to graciously put up with the quirks of their men. How many men really want to see their hard earned money spent on home decor accents, for instance? Sure, they like the house to look good, but what's a new vase got to do with that?
Women find it equally frustrating when their husband wastes the household money she's been so carefully saving. A tree in the backyard has one dead branch on it. Instead of cutting it off with a hand saw, he goes out and buys a homelite chainsaw for the job. After that, it just sits in the garage. The man's 'inner woodsman' overrides his better judgment.
When you look at it in the right way, it can only make you smile. Men and women can't live without each other largely because of their differences, not in spite of them. They say that opposites attract, not repel. That's because opposites complement one another.
Of course, there are many areas in which men and women are in complete agreement. An outdoor loving couple will readily agree on buying a Schwinn mountain bike, for instance. Their matching bikes afford them the opportunity to explore the great outdoors together.
They may enjoy different things about the outdoors. A man might see every downhill slope as an opportunity to risk his life while his wife or girlfriend stops to enjoy the view or pick some flowers. But when they reach the end of the trail, they share a bottle of water and stories about their ride.
To complicate things further, men have a feminine side and women have a masculine side, too. Sometimes it's the girl who feels the need for speed while her partner enjoys a more leisurely pace, stopping from time to time to photograph the scenery. All of these differences make life the rich experience that it is.
